We provide bikes for any child, 18 years old and younger, in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area who would otherwise not be able to have one. Children should experience the responsibility, excitement and freedom that comes with owning a bike.
October 19, 2026 - Today marks the 10th Anniversary of Bob's Free Bikes providing bikes to children
In 2016, following more than 40 years with Make-A-Wish, Special Olympics, Feed the Children, etc., Bob Mandel wanted to continue to fulfill his passion for giving to children. He came up with the idea for Bob's Free Bikes in a garage located Fountain Hills, AZ. By August of that year, the idea had gelled into a 501C3 nonprofit organization. In 2017, first full year of operations, Bob's gave110 bikes to children.
Since then, Bob's Free Bikes has provided over 8700 bikes to children in Maricopa County,
Bob's success would not be possible if it weren't for the support of our partners, sponsors and the community at large. Since it's inception in 2016, 100% of the staff consists of unpaid volunteers. These volunteers donate their time and energy repairing bikes, making deliveries and pickups, participating in community events, etc.
To all of you, we offer our heart felt thanks for helping us reach this milestone!

January 22, 2026 - Bob's Free Bikes has been voted as a winner in the 2025 Fountain Hills Favorites, Community - Non-Profits Civic Organization category. This event is sponsored by Independent News Media, the parent company of the Fountain Hills Times Independent, our local newspaper.
From the Independent News Media website - "The votes are in, and the 2025 Fountain Hills Favorites have been decided!
After thousands of community votes, we’re excited to officially announce this year’s Winners and Finalists—the businesses that stood out as the very best of Fountain Hills.
A huge thank you to everyone who voted and supported local. Your participation helps spotlight the people, places, and passion that make the Fountain Hills such a special place to live and work."
January 9, 2026 - Another record breaking year! For 2025, Bob's Free Bikes provided 1,339 bicycles to those in need! In spite of it's much smaller size, we were able to make our new location work and break last year's total of 1259. We estimate that since Bob started the organization in 2016, we have given out over 7,800 bikes.
Thank you to our staff of dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this happen and our sponsors and donors for their support. Without their support, we would not have accomplished this milestone.
December 11, 2025 - Bob's Free Bikes was the recipient of new bicycles donated by the employees of Extek Engineered Products. They held a bike drive and assembly event that produced a total of 30 bikes!. The result was a great time for everyone involved.
EXTEX Engineered Products, located in Gilbert AZ, is an FAA approved manufacturer of replacement parts for the aerospace industry. Their focus is parts for gas turbine engines and helicopters.
Bob's is grateful for the support from employees of EXTEK.
Thank You!
